US PGA Tour '2024 Genesis Invitational' Opens

The '2024 Genesis Invitational,' a PGA Tour tournament sponsored by Genesis as the title sponsor, opened on the 15th (local time).

Held from the 15th to the 18th at the Riviera Country Club in California, USA, this tournament has been elevated to a 'Signature Event' selected by the PGA Tour. Accordingly, 72 players who secured entry will compete fiercely.

Signature Events refer to eight newly designated tournaments in 2024 out of the total 39 PGA Tour events. Since only a limited number of players can participate, these tournaments not only offer larger total prize money but also award more FedEx Cup points than regular events.

The '2024 Genesis Invitational' features 18 players ranked within the top 20 worldwide, including world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, No. 2 Rory McIlroy, No. 4 Viktor Hovland, and No. 5 Xander Schauffele. The tournament host, Tiger Woods, will also participate as a player, marking his first event of the 2024 season. Korean players challenging the tournament include An Byeong-hun, who finished 4th at The Sentry, the season opener and first Signature Event, along with Kim Joo-hyung, Im Sung-jae, and Kim Si-woo.

The total prize money for this tournament is $20 million, with the winner's prize being $4 million. In addition to the prize money, the champion will receive a Genesis GV80 Coupe model as a trophy.

Following last year, the 2024 Genesis Invitational has again offered hole-in-one prizes for player-caddie pairs on two holes. On the 14th hole each round, the first player to make a hole-in-one and their caddie will each receive a GV80 and GV70 electrified model, respectively. Additionally, on the 16th hole, the first hole-in-one will award the player a GV70 and the caddie a GV60.

During the tournament, Genesis will support the safe transportation of players and assist in tournament operations by providing a total of 220 vehicles, including the GV60 and GV70 electrified models and the GV80.

Song Min-gyu, Vice President and Head of Genesis Business Division, said, "Our goal is to provide a stage where top-tier players with the best skills can fully demonstrate their abilities," adding, "We will strive to offer a differentiated experience unique to Genesis not only to players and caddies but also to all galleries."
