During Live Broadcast, Taxi Driver Asked "Did You Fart?"
Taxi Driver Denies but Accuser Insists... Reported to Police
An actor-turned-YouTuber has been accused of abusing power by expressing dissatisfaction with a taxi driver's bodily function. On the 13th, an online community, BobaeDream, posted a thread titled 'Actress-turned-YouTuber Taxi Driver Fart Incident.' The author, who identified themselves as a YouTuber, claimed that YouTuber A, who had worked as an unknown actress, argued that the taxi driver had farted and described the ensuing dispute with multiple photos.
The video and photos attached to the post appear to be from a live broadcast by YouTuber A. The broadcast took place around 4 a.m. on the 10th, during the Lunar New Year holiday period. After drinking alcohol, A conducted a live stream while riding in a taxi. During the live stream, which had about 150 viewers, A suddenly asked the taxi driver, "Excuse me, did you fart? Why does it smell like fart?" and said, "I'm going to open the window." When the taxi driver denied it, saying, "I did not fart," A said to the viewers, "What did I do wrong? Is this situation right? Since you work in customer service, should I just get off here?"

She repeatedly asked the taxi driver, "Did you fart?" which eventually angered the driver. Then A said, "Are you angry at me? Is it a crime to ask if you farted?" and started cursing. She also threatened to jump out of the moving taxi. The taxi driver urged A to get off, saying, "You're the first person like this I've ever met," and "Didn't I say no? Get off quickly."
A exposed the taxi driver's face on the live broadcast, saying, "Look at this person carefully." The startled taxi driver said, "Get off quickly, you [expletive]," and pushed the camera away with his hand. A then said, "Did he hit me? Everyone, you saw him hit me. How dare he hit a woman," and called 112 (emergency number).
Continued Cursing Even After Police Arrival
When the police arrived, A accused the taxi driver of assault and did not stop cursing. The police said, "Understood. We are checking the black box, so please wait a moment," and asked A to refrain from cursing at adults. Offended by this, A said to the police, "Would you do this even if she were your girlfriend?" and "The police are treating me like this. I will file a complaint."
To the police officers who arrived at the scene, Mr. A claimed that the taxi driver had assaulted him and did not stop using abusive language. The police said, "Understood. We are checking the black box, so please wait a moment," and restrained Mr. A by saying, "Please refrain from using abusive language toward adults." [Photo by online community 'BobaeDream']
The author criticized, "A did not take time for self-reflection and two days later did a drinking and singing Excel broadcast," adding, "Insults, defamation, business obstruction, and job disparagement happened within hours." An Excel broadcast is a format where female BJs (broadcast jockeys) appearing on the show organize real-time donations in Excel to foster competition. After the broadcast, revenue is shared with guest BJs according to their contribution.
Netizens expressed anger with comments such as, "My heart aches seeing the humiliation and ordeal the driver suffered in the early hours of the Lunar New Year," "I can't believe someone would cause such a disturbance just because of a smell in the car," and "Isn't this a YouTuber deliberately creating an incident to increase subscribers and views?"
This incident was also covered on JTBC's 'Incident Room' broadcast on the 13th. Anchor Yang Won-bo reported, "A contacted us asking not to air the broadcast, saying she apologized to the taxi driver and reached a settlement. When we contacted the taxi driver for confirmation, he said there was no settlement and that he hoped the broadcast would air."
