Gyeonggi-do Marine Fisheries Resources Research Institute, Free Parasite Testing for Aquaculture Farms

Gyeonggi-do Marine Fisheries Resources Research Institute, Free Parasite Testing for Aquaculture Farms Free Parasite Testing

Gyeonggi Province is offering free parasite inspections for fish farms.

The Gyeonggi Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute will conduct the "Aquatic Organism Parasite Control Project" targeting aquaculture farms from the 15th of this month until the 8th of next month.

The Aquatic Organism Parasite Control Project involves the institute visiting aquaculture sites directly to provide free inspections for parasitic diseases (such as gill flukes and white spot disease) in farmed fish to ensure the supply of safe seafood.

Participation is open to Gyeonggi aquaculture farms that have fishing licenses, permits, or registrations and have completed quarantine education, with final selections made from applicants.

The Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute will provide technical guidance on the use of aquatic veterinary drugs and supply antiparasitic agents (such as aquatic formalin) free of charge up to five doses to farms where parasites are detected. If additional testing is required during site visits, the mobile aquatic organism disease clinic vehicle will be used to offer bacterial and viral disease testing services as well.

Applications can be submitted to the fisheries-related departments of the respective city or county, and inquiries can be directed to the Seafood Safety Team at the Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute (031-8008-6505).

Meanwhile, the institute conducted a total of 210 inspections last year and provided 415 doses of three types of antiparasitic agents to 22 farms where parasites were detected.
