NVIDIA CEO: "Each Country Must Independently Build AI Infrastructure"

Jensen Huang Advocates at the World Government Summit

NVIDIA CEO: "Each Country Must Independently Build AI Infrastructure" Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA

Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, argued that each country should build its own independent artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

On the 12th (local time), Huang attended the 2024 World Government Summit dialogue program held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), stating, "No country should allow other countries or private companies to build their AI infrastructure."

The dialogue attracted attention as it featured a meeting between Jensen Huang and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT. Participants exchanged views on the future of AI.

Huang emphasized, "To protect each culture while harnessing AI's economic potential, every country needs to have its own AI infrastructure." He added, "It is entirely up to the respective governments to build AI infrastructure as quickly as possible, then innovate and revitalize industries."

Regarding fears about AI risks, he dismissed them as "overblown," noting that "new technologies and industries like automobiles and aviation have already been successfully regulated." He pointed out, "There are interest groups that scare and confuse people about this new technology (AI), urging them to do nothing about AI technology and to 'rely on us.' I think this is a mistake."

NVIDIA, the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer by market capitalization, is estimated to have doubled its revenue last year, supported by investments from major clients such as Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Amazon.com, and Alphabet. Wall Street analysts predict that due to the surge in demand for NVIDIA products, it could become the semiconductor industry's top revenue company as early as 2025.
