Chungnam Province Strengthens Quarantine Measures to Prevent Winter Infectious Disease Spread

Chungnam Province announced on the 10th that it will implement a comprehensive quarantine plan to prevent the spread of winter infectious diseases such as norovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, and measles.

According to the quarantine plan, Chungnam Province will operate a 24-hour emergency quarantine duty system during the Lunar New Year holiday period, involving Chungnam Provincial Government, Chungnam Institute of Health and Environment, and city and county offices.

In addition, to respond to COVID-19, which continues to produce variant viruses, a joint task force between the province and city/county offices will be formed, and 121 pharmacies prescribing oral antiviral treatments will be operated to focus on managing high-risk groups.

Chungnam Province will also maintain a response system for bedbugs, which have been rampant since the end of last year, providing on-site inspections and pest control support upon reports.

Lee Dong-yoo, Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau of the province, said, “We will strive to ensure that residents, returning visitors, and tourists can all have a safe and healthy holiday by implementing customized measures for each infectious disease according to seasonal characteristics.”
