The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency announced on the 9th that it will carry out a project to support the installation costs of ventilation devices to prevent acute poisoning caused by chemical substances.
This year, the agency will invest a budget of 15.8 billion KRW to support the installation costs of ventilation devices. The installation costs will be supported up to a maximum of 50 million KRW depending on the number of regular workers at the applying workplace.
Last year, through this support project, 595 sites received financial assistance for the installation of local exhaust ventilation devices, supply and exhaust ventilation devices, and ventilation devices for cooking facilities.
The supported items include not only local exhaust ventilation devices and supply and exhaust ventilation devices for chemical handling workplaces to prevent acute poisoning but also ventilation devices for cooking facilities.
Workplaces wishing to receive support for ventilation device installation costs can apply by visiting or mailing the nearest regional headquarters, branch offices, or local offices of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency by the 23rd. Detailed information can be found on the agency's website.
Director An Jong-ju stated, "The most important factor in preventing chemical poisoning accidents is the proper installation of ventilation devices," and added, "We hope that the support project for ventilation device installation costs will play a significant role in creating comfortable and healthy workplaces."
