‘Closer to Residents' Lives’ Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam, Begins Checking Public Welfare Before Lunar New Year Holiday

Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, spent a busy schedule ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday to check on the lives of the residents.


On January 30, Governor Park personally washed laundry for the elderly at Dongsan Senior Center in Jinjeon-myeon, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon City.

Governor Park, who went to inspect the ‘Visiting Laundry Service’ project, a free laundry service for the elderly promoted by the province, helped with washing large items such as blankets that day.


He participated in the entire process, from putting the blankets he washed by hand into the washing machine installed in the laundry vehicle, washing them again, spinning, and hanging them on the drying rack.


He also listened to and discussed user feedback and service improvement points from the elderly service recipients and on-site workers.

On the 5th, he listened to the stories of residents in the Sakhalin Korean village in Yangsan who cannot meet their families in Sakhalin due to the Russia-Ukraine war and decided to review support measures.


The next day, Governor Park visited ‘Salm-ui Shimteo,’ a welfare facility for the elderly, women, and disabled in Geochang-eup, and pledged to actively resolve the difficulties of vulnerable groups in blind spots together with Geochang County.

On the 7th, he visited the Gyeongnam strawberry export agricultural complex with Kim Jin-bu, chairman of the provincial council, to encourage strawberry farmers and understand the status of strawberry exports and the export complex.


During this period, Governor Park visited seven local traditional markets including Yangsan Deokgye General Market, Geochang Traditional Market, Jinju Jungang Market, Jinju Nonggae Market, and Changwon Gaeumjeong Traditional Market to check the holiday shopping basket price trends.


He purchased fruits, rice cakes, dried seafood, and other items with Onnuri gift certificates, listened to the difficulties faced by merchants on site, exchanged holiday greetings, and all purchased goods were delivered to welfare facilities in the respective areas.

Governor Park said, “Ahead of Seol, the ethnic traditional holiday, I shared warm affection with residents from all walks of life,” adding, “I hope all residents receive many blessings in the new year, and our province will continue to open a new era of Gyeongnam full of hope together with the residents.”
