Jeonnam Naju-si Conducts 'Visiting Free Tuberculosis Screening'

Naju City, in collaboration with the Jeollanam-do branch of the Korean Tuberculosis Association, started the screenings at the Senior Club in January and plans to carry out tuberculosis screenings and infectious disease prevention education throughout the entire city of Naju in the future.

The screening involves chest X-ray imaging and remote real-time interpretation, and if any abnormalities are found, additional sputum tests are conducted to diagnose tuberculosis.

The mobile screening allows elderly individuals who have difficulty moving or visiting hospitals to receive thorough examinations, and since results can be confirmed immediately on-site, it has received great positive feedback.

The February screenings are scheduled for the 21st in Nampyeong-eup and Bannam-myeon.

Kang Dong-ryeol, director of the Public Health Center, urged, "Seniors aged 65 and over, who have a high incidence rate of tuberculosis, are encouraged to actively participate in annual tuberculosis screenings regardless of symptoms."

Meanwhile, last year, the Naju Public Health Center visited 44 locations including village halls and day care centers, conducting tuberculosis screenings for 1,066 people.
