Dongui University, Korea-France Ultra-Realistic Media Joint Production Project Underway

Production of Interactive Documentary with France's ?cole Polytechnique

The Department of Film Studies at Dong-Eui University (Department Head Cha Min-cheol) has embarked on a joint production of ultra-realistic media with a French national university earlier this year.


Dong-Eui University announced on the 8th that from January 26 to February 9, it visited Paris, France, to start a joint production project of an "Interactive Documentary" with the French national Gustave Eiffel University.


Dong-Eui University and Eiffel University have been sister institutions since 2013, exchanging visits between France and Korea annually and jointly producing interactive documentaries.

Dongui University, Korea-France Ultra-Realistic Media Joint Production Project Underway Students from Dong-Eui University are conducting a Korea-France ultra-realistic media co-production project.

The 2024 project involved 21 students and 2 professors from Dong-Eui University's Department of Film Studies, along with 35 graduate students and 5 professors from Eiffel University's Department of Web Culture Technology.


They are producing interactive documentaries on six themes: "Hanok," "Dangun Myth," "Standards of Beauty in Korean Society," "Korea-US Relations," "Korean Drinking Culture," and "1980 Gwangju - Rousson and Schobel."


The interactive documentary project held its project proposal presentation and pre-production work at Eiffel University in France, and from April 20 to May 3, full-scale filming and post-production will take place in Busan.


Additionally, this year, an ultra-realistic media XR content production project was also conducted. Centered on students from Dong-Eui University's Department of Film Studies, they participated in producing related content for interactive films and VR cinema in Paris, France, and at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, known as the Cannes of short films. Editing is scheduled to be completed by March and will be released through the Dong-Eui University Department of Film Studies website.


Professor Cha Min-cheol, who is the overall director of this project, stated, "As the joint production projects between the two countries continue year after year, the quality of the works is improving, and it provides participating students with an opportunity to experience a new form of film called interactive documentary and a cross-cultural perspective on the cultures of both countries."
