According to the analysis of microdata from Statistics Korea, in 2022, the number one nationality of foreign husbands remarried by Korean women was Vietnam (556 people). The second was China (446), third the United States (141), and fourth the Philippines (46). From 1993, when statistics began to be compiled, until 2003, the most common nationality of foreign men marrying Korean women internationally was geographically close Japan.

Vietnamese women began registering marriages (first marriage or remarriage) with Korean men in Korea starting in 2000 (77 people). The number peaked at 10,128 in 2006 and was 3,319 in 2022. Professor Park Yeon-gwan of the Vietnamese Language Department at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies analyzed, "Women who married Korean men and naturalized but then divorced do not want to return to Vietnam, so many Vietnamese men who came to Korea as laborers try to settle here.
