Geumcheon-gu to Implement Comprehensive Measures for Lunar New Year Holiday from 7th to 13th This Month

Geumcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will implement the "2024 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Measures" from the 7th to the 13th of this month to ensure residents can spend the Lunar New Year safely and comfortably.

The district will focus on six key areas?safety, sharing, transportation, resolving residents' inconveniences, price stabilization, and establishing public service discipline?to prevent various accidents during the Lunar New Year holiday and minimize inconveniences for residents.

Under the overall management of a 24-hour operating comprehensive situation room and a safety measures comprehensive situation room, the district will operate 11 functional task forces, including the snow removal task force and transportation task force, to minimize residents' inconveniences.

Before the Lunar New Year holiday, special inspections will be conducted on 277 disaster-vulnerable facilities such as construction sites, multi-use facilities, and traditional markets. The overall condition of facilities will be checked, with focused inspections on fire hazards and safety blind spots. Management of CCTV blind spots and crime-vulnerable areas will also be strengthened to prevent various safety accidents in advance.

To respond swiftly to sudden cold waves and heavy snowfall, the snow removal task force and cold wave task force will be operated. A phased response system according to weather alerts will be maintained, and in case of emergencies, the situation dissemination system will be promptly activated following the emergency contact system.

This Lunar New Year, support for the "underprivileged groups" has also been strengthened. Holiday consolation funds for national veterans and low-income single-parent households will be increased to create a warm holiday atmosphere shared with neighbors.

In line with extended public transportation services for Lunar New Year travelers, the last bus times for village buses will be extended by one hour on the 10th and 11th. To facilitate parking for residents and travelers, 30 parking facilities with 1,651 spaces at schools, public, and private facilities will be opened free of charge.

Additionally, an emergency medical treatment situation room will be set up to prepare for situations requiring emergency care, and hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies open during the holiday period will be operated. A cleaning situation room will also be operated to handle cleaning complaints that may arise during the period when household waste is not collected (February 8?11). Environmental officers and emergency duty teams from cleaning contractors will be organized to collect household waste promptly before and after the holiday to maintain street cleanliness.

A price stabilization situation room and enforcement team will also be operated in preparation for the Lunar New Year. They will work to keep prices of popular holiday items stable and support traditional market Lunar New Year events to revitalize the local economy.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, inquiries and complaints can be addressed by calling the Seoul 120 Call Center or the Geumcheon-gu situation room.

Mayor Yu Seong-hoon said, "We are implementing comprehensive Lunar New Year measures that cover everything necessary for residents' safety and convenience, from parking issues to emergency medical care during the holiday period," and added, "We hope residents can spend a safe, enjoyable, and comfortable holiday."
