On the 2nd (local time), the British Daily Mail reported, "Federal investigators indicted three Koreans who operated prostitution rings in Massachusetts and Virginia last November, and authorities believe these establishments provided prostitution services to 28 'elite' individuals, including elected officials." The investigation revealed that they accumulated massive profits from prostitution brokerage fees, with most of the funds reportedly transferred to banks located in Korea.

Lee (male, 68) residing in California, Lee (female, 41) residing in Massachusetts, and Lee (male, 30) also residing in Massachusetts operated multiple prostitution venues in Massachusetts, Virginia, and California from July 2020 until recently. They recruited Asian women, including Koreans, and allowed them to stay in upscale apartments used as prostitution sites during their stay, inducing or coercing them into prostitution. They arranged clients through websites and charged between $350 and $600 per hour.

Investigators are raising the possibility that they are part of a Korean spy organization. A federal investigator close to the case told local media LA Magazine, "The fact that they arranged prostitution targeting influential political and business figures in upscale apartments in Boston and Washington DC, and targeted buyers who had access to sensitive information, supports suspicions of espionage." The Daily Mail reported, "Federal agents and members of Congress are concerned about the threat to national security and the possibility that the women involved in prostitution might be part of Korean spies."
