Support Payments, Special Meal Sharing, and Seol Festivities for Vulnerable Groups Draw Attention
Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is implementing the '2024 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Measures' from February 7 to February 13 to minimize inconveniences closely related to residents' daily lives and ensure a safe and comfortable Lunar New Year holiday.
The '2024 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Measures' cover five areas: ▲Resident Safety ▲Support for Vulnerable Groups ▲Traffic Safety ▲Convenience in Daily Life ▲Price Stability. A comprehensive situation room and functional task forces will be operated to prepare for various emergencies during the holiday period.
This year, securing residents' safety is the core focus of the Lunar New Year measures. From February 8, when the holiday begins, to February 13, a 24-hour comprehensive situation room will be operated to promptly respond to various urgent civil complaints.
When a cold wave advisory is issued, a Cold Wave Countermeasure Comprehensive Support Task Force will be activated, and cold weather protection sets including gloves, masks, scarves, and earmuffs will be distributed to vulnerable groups. In case of heavy snowfall, snow removal personnel will be organized to carry out snow removal operations.
Additionally, pre-safety inspections will be conducted on construction sites, gas facilities, road facilities, and multi-use facilities to prevent any potential safety accidents.
To prepare for possible medical service gaps during the Lunar New Year holiday, an emergency medical situation room will be established at the public health center, and emergency medical institutions and holiday pharmacies will be designated and operated to maintain an emergency medical system.
Support for vulnerable groups for a 'Sharing Holiday' will also be provided. Consolation money will be given to recipients of public assistance and low-income single-parent families, and special meals will be shared with marginalized groups through comprehensive social welfare centers. Various local institutions, including Bangagol Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, will hold celebrations for the elderly, children, and youth.
Several measures to minimize residents' inconveniences during the Lunar New Year holiday will also be implemented. From February 8 to 13, a traffic countermeasure situation room will be operated to provide various traffic information in response to inquiries. Additionally, advance publicity regarding extended operations of city buses, subways, and village buses will be conducted through the Dobong-gu website and major bus stops.
From February 9 to 11, due to the cleaning contractors' holidays, garbage, recyclables, and food waste will not be collected, which may cause issues. To address this, garbage collection will be intensified before the holiday. From February 12, the last day of the holiday, cleaning personnel and equipment will be fully mobilized to collect waste.
Furthermore, to revitalize traditional markets, holiday events will be held at each traditional market, and temporary parking around traditional markets will be allowed for 10 days from February 3 to 12 for the convenience of visitors.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We have preemptively inspected potential issues that may arise in various fields to secure residents' safety and minimize inconveniences during the holiday period and prepared tailored measures for each area. We will faithfully implement the comprehensive measures so that residents can have a safe and warm holiday.”
