Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon once again raised his voice, saying, "The 159 victims and bereaved families of the Itaewon tragedy are shedding tears of blood," and asked, "Aren't they citizens of the Republic of Korea?"

At a press conference held on the 5th at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government briefing room regarding the establishment of the 'Northeastern Gyeonggi Public Medical Center,' Governor Kim responded to related questions by lamenting, "Why are ears closed to the desperate wishes and pleas of the bereaved families of the Itaewon tragedy victims?"

Earlier, on the 30th of last month, Governor Kim sternly warned against the government's decision at the Cabinet meeting to exercise a veto on the 'Itaewon Tragedy Special Act,' saying, "The country should not be like this."

At that time, through his social media (SNS), he asserted, "This should not happen. The country should not be like this," and added, "There was no state during the (Itaewon) tragedy."

He continued, "President Yoon Seok-yeol today refused even the last remaining responsibility of the state," and criticized, "From beginning to end, there was no country for the people."

Governor Kim also spoke about the dual special investigation, stating, "I understand that 60 to 70% of the people support it," and raised his voice, "Why are ears closed to the voices of the people and citizens demanding this? The Yoon Seok-yeol administration is selectively listening to the wishes, requests, and pleas of citizens and residents."
