Types to Avoid When Remarrying Are 'Tteokdae Women, Suburban Men'
When it comes to remarriage, men reportedly want to avoid partners with a large and sturdy physique, so-called 'tteokdae women.' For women, men living in suburban areas were found to be the least preferred remarriage partners.
On the 5th, remarriage information company OnlyU announced the results of a survey conducted in collaboration with marriage information company Bienarae from the 29th of last month to the 3rd of this month. The survey targeted 516 nationwide remarriage hopeful divorced singles (258 men and 258 women).
In response to the question, "Where would you suspect the other person’s intentions if they try to lure you during a remarriage matchmaking meeting?" men answered in order: ▲hotel coffee shop (41.5%) ▲department store (35.6%) ▲karaoke (15.5%) ▲their own home (7.4%). Women answered: ▲karaoke (45.0%) ▲their own home (39.1%) ▲hotel coffee shop (9.7%) ▲department store (6.2%).
Regarding the question, "If your partner shows excessive attachment to something while dating with remarriage in mind, would you reconsider remarriage?" both men and women chose children (41.1% and 45.0%, respectively). The second most chosen was parents (28.6% and 25.2%, respectively). Following that, men answered ▲siblings (17.1%) ▲friends (8.5%) ▲work (4.7%), while women answered ▲work (16.7%) ▲friends (8.1%) ▲siblings (5.0%) in that order.
As for conditions they want to avoid in remarriage, though not core criteria, men responded in order: ▲women with a large and sturdy physique (29.1%) ▲older partners (25.1%) ▲working in a higher position than themselves (21.3%) ▲higher education level than themselves (16.7%). For women, the highest was men living in suburban areas (27.5%), followed by ▲working in a lower position than themselves (24.9%) ▲small stature (22.1%) ▲lower education level than themselves (17.4%).
Son Dong-gyu, CEO of OnlyU, said, "When arranging remarriage matchmaking, it often feels like people are trying to find excuses to deem the other person unsuitable as a remarriage partner." He added, "Looking at the other person with a positive perspective and making efforts to minimize aspects that might dissatisfy the other can help both parties develop mutual affection."
