Employee Mental Health Programs Including Counseling and Healing Camp Established
Park Junhee, Gwanak District Mayor, "Employees Must Be Happy First for Residents to Be Happy"
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has taken steps to manage employee mental health and stress to create a workplace where employees want to come to work and foster a healthy workplace culture.
The district provides customized healing programs for employees exhausted from high-intensity civil service duties, emergency work, and various ongoing tasks. The purpose is to help employees recharge their tired bodies and minds, create a vibrant workplace atmosphere, and boost work motivation.
First, the district operates a psychological counseling program for healing the mind from job stress and emotional labor experienced by employees.
By conducting stress self-diagnosis and both face-to-face and non-face-to-face counseling programs, the district manages various stresses, depression, anxiety, and trauma among employees and strives to improve emotional stability. Since 2021, a total of 326 employees have received 796 counseling sessions.
In particular, this year the district secured 45 million KRW for the psychological counseling program, a 50% increase from last year, and plans to expand the program so that more employees can benefit compared to last year.
Under the slogan "For;rest, for those who need rest," the district is also conducting the '休 & Healing Camp' for employees handling heavy workloads and civil service duties.
The district offers programs such as forest therapy, aroma healing, and recovering yoga, allowing employees to heal their mind and body in the forest away from the city. This provided a healing time to listen to and share the hearts of employees suffering from heavy workloads. Last year, 68 employees participated, and all participants showed very high satisfaction.
Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, "Above all, I believe that the happiness of over 1,700 employees leads to the best administrative services and ultimately to the happiness of the residents." He added, "We will continue to promote programs that listen to and comfort the hearts of employees and spare no support to create a workplace where employees want to come to work and a healthy work environment."
