Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Ilpyeong Lee's On-site Inspection of Debris Cleanup on Jeonghwa High? Hongpa Elementary School Commute Route on the 1st
Focused Inspection Reflecting Resident Opinions Proposed at Jegi-dong Community Communication Meeting
On the afternoon of the 1st, Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Ilhyung Lee conducted an on-site inspection of the 'accumulated goods cleanup' along the school routes of Seoul Jeonghwa High School and Hongpa Elementary School.
The district has been holding the '2024 Resident Communication Meetings,' visiting 14 neighborhoods sequentially from February 6th, starting with Hwikyung 2-dong on the 17th of last month, to meet with residents.
At the resident communication meeting held in Jegi-dong on the 22nd of last month, residents requested that the school routes of Jeonghwa High School and Hongpa Elementary School be maintained safely and cleanly. The area around Jeonghwa High School and Hongpa Elementary School is densely packed with about 60 shops selling miscellaneous goods and beverages, and goods for loading and unloading were frequently placed on sidewalks and roadside parking lots, causing inconvenience to residents' passage.
In response, the district launched a two-week intensive crackdown on accumulated goods cleanup targeting the area from the 25th of last month to the 7th of this month. To encourage voluntary cleanup by business owners, notices regarding violations of the Road Act were distributed, and measures such as ▲imposing fines and forced collection ▲filing complaints have been implemented.
On this day, Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Ilhyung Lee inspected the sites requiring cleanup and requested business owners operating shops to clear the accumulated goods placed on sidewalks and roadside parking lots for the safety of residents.
Mayor Ilhyung Lee of Dongdaemun-gu stated, “Through the intensive crackdown on accumulated goods cleanup, we will secure safe school routes and create a pleasant walking environment,” adding, “Other opinions raised at the resident communication meetings will also be actively reflected in district administration to make our district an even better place to live.”
