Semiconductor and Automobile Strength... Hyundai and Kia on the Rise
KOSDAQ Declines Further... Battery and Bio Weakness Draw Attention
On the 1st, the KOSPI index started lower but turned to an upward trend thanks to foreign buying. The semiconductor and automobile sectors are showing strength.
As of 9:43 a.m., the KOSPI is trading at 2,516.76, up 0.79% (19.67 points) from the previous day. The KOSPI opened down 0.21% (5.16 points) at 2,491.93 but soon rebounded.
Foreigners are driving the index with net purchases of 270.2 billion KRW. Meanwhile, individuals and institutions are net sellers with 141.2 billion KRW and 93.8 billion KRW, respectively. In the futures market, individuals and foreigners are buying 56.3 billion KRW and 378.7 billion KRW, respectively. Institutions alone are selling 467.4 billion KRW.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, the strength of the semiconductor and automobile sectors stands out. Samsung Electronics is trading up 2.06% at 74,200 KRW. SK Hynix is up 0.22% at 135,000 KRW. Hyundai Motor and Kia are rising 4.32% and 1.36%, respectively.
As of 9:48 a.m., the KOSDAQ is trading at 794.50, down 0.59% (4.74 points) from the previous day. The KOSDAQ opened down 0.37% (2.98 points) at 796.26. Foreigners and institutions are weighing down the index with net sales of 22.4 billion KRW and 57.9 billion KRW, respectively. Individuals alone are net buyers with 86.1 billion KRW.
The top 10 stocks by market capitalization show mixed trends. Weakness in battery and bio sectors is noticeable. Ecopro is down 0.40%, HLB down 3.39%, Celltrion Pharm down 1.96%, and Alteogen down 4.14%.
