- GTX-C Line Confirmed to Extend 55km from Existing Route to Suwon~Cheonan·Asan
- Complex Near Cheonan Station Gains Popularity with High Prices Even Within the Region
Good news regarding railway transportation has been heard in Cheonan City, Chungnam Province, raising the city's future value. On the 25th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport officially announced at the transportation sector public discussion chaired by President Yoon Seok-yeol that the GTX-C line will be extended 55km from the existing Yangju Deokjeong~Suwon route to Suwon~Cheonan·Asan.
The GTX-C extension is an electric railway that operates at a design speed of 180 km/h for the 55km section from Suwon, the terminus of the main line, to Cheonan Station by utilizing the spare capacity of the existing Gyeongbu Line. With the line extension, major points in the Seoul metropolitan area and Seoul can be accessed within about 50 minutes, greatly improving convenience for commuting citizens and is expected to serve as a major catalyst for regional economic vitality, including promoting redevelopment of the old downtown area.
On January 26, Park Sang-don, Mayor of Cheonan City, held a briefing at the city hall briefing room and said, “We are about to welcome the metropolitan area wide express railway,” adding, “I feel even greater joy and delight to deliver news that will mark a major milestone in the development of Cheonan City.”
Meanwhile, the real estate market in Cheonan City is also said to be bustling in response to this ‘major positive development.’ Above all, the apartment market near Cheonan Station, the planned station for the GTX-C line, is becoming noticeably active. In fact, some real estate-related communities have posted content stating, “Due to the GTX-C development, real estate near Cheonan Station is attracting market attention, and investing now can yield considerable profits.”
Among these, Hyundai Construction’s ‘Hillstate Cheonan Station Skyum,’ expected to benefit from the confirmed extension of the GTX-C line to Cheonan Station, is located within a 400m radius of Cheonan Station (planned GTX-C line station, Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 1·Gyeongbu Line), making commuting to Seoul and the metropolitan area convenient and travel to other regions easy. Roads such as Bongpyeong-ro and Bongjeong-ro are also nearby, allowing convenient access throughout Cheonan. Additionally, nearby Cheonan IC and Cheonan JC provide easy entry to the Gyeongbu Expressway and Cheonan~Nonsan Expressway. Within a 2km radius of the complex are Cheonan Express Bus Terminal and Cheonan General Bus Terminal, offering convenient use.
The complex, consisting of 6 buildings from basement level 5 to ground level 49, includes a total of 999 apartment units with exclusive areas ranging from 59 to 114㎡ and 80 officetel units with exclusive areas of 84㎡. It is planned to be supplied as a high-rise residential-commercial complex in Cheonan’s old downtown area, where the proportion of aging housing is high.
Convenient use of surrounding infrastructure is also a feature. Prestigious school districts such as Wachon Elementary School, Gyegwang Middle School, and Cheonan High School are adjacent and accessible on foot. Various convenience facilities including shopping are easy to use. The complex is near shopping facilities such as E-Mart, Shinsegae Department Store, and Homeplus, and the Cheonan Station commercial area is also close.
Various specialized designs and product qualities stand out. The layout mainly faces south (except some units) for excellent lighting, and a plate-type structure (except some units) that allows good ventilation was chosen. In addition, ample storage space designs such as dressing rooms and alpha rooms (paid options for floor plan selection) maximize space utilization, and a high ceiling height of 2.5m (2.6m in the living room) ensures a sense of openness.
