The forest roads will be temporarily opened to facilitate the movement of visitors paying respects during the Lunar New Year holiday. The roads to be opened include 8,670 km managed by 27 national forest management offices nationwide and 17,178 km managed by 226 local governments.

However, some sections with a high risk of accidents due to heavy snowfall and ice formation will not be opened.

Where opening forest roads is difficult, flexible operation will be implemented according to the local circumstances of each agency.

For more detailed information about the opening of forest roads, inquiries can be made through the relevant city/province or national forest management office.

Nam Sung-hyun, Administrator of the Korea Forest Service, said, “Forest roads are key forest management infrastructure that play a crucial role in sustainable forest resource management and responding to forest disasters such as wildfires.” He added, “We ask that users check local weather conditions in advance before using the forest roads.”
