211 Social Welfare Centers Nationwide Support 1,705 Vulnerable Households
# Kim Mo (35), the eldest residing in Gyeonggi-do, recently sent a letter of appreciation to the Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation. Despite being unemployed due to injuries from a traffic accident and having to care for his wife Choi Mo (31), who is bedridden due to a chronic illness, and his son Kim Mo (7), who has a developmental disability making communication difficult, he found hope in life through support from the Shinhan Financial Welfare Foundation and the Guri City Comprehensive Social Welfare Center. After receiving living expense support from Shinhan Financial, Kim is now working at a convenience store, nurturing his hope.
On the 31st, the Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation announced that since last July, it has been expanding support for vulnerable groups by signing a business agreement with the Korea Social Welfare Center for the 'Social Worker-Linked Case Management Support Project.' This project supports the process of providing customized services based on the know-how of social workers regarding the target vulnerable groups and the resources available to support them.
Through this project, the Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation provided 2.4 billion KRW in living, medical, and educational expenses to 1,705 vulnerable households managed by 211 social welfare centers nationwide, according to each household's situation. Additionally, in December last year, an awards ceremony was held to encourage the hard work of social workers, sharing exemplary cases and selecting outstanding social workers.
Lee Su-hyun, team leader at the Guri Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, who handled the case of the Kim family that sent the letter to the foundation, said, “Thanks to the Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation, we were able to strongly inspire hope for recovery and independence in the families we assist,” adding, “We will continue to help our neighbors in need with greater pride and meticulous case management.”
Jin Ok-dong, chairman of the Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation, stated, “Shinhan Financial will seek various ways to further activate the Social Worker-Linked Case Management Support Project through cooperation with various related organizations so that both social workers and vulnerable groups in need can have brighter hope and dream of a better tomorrow.”
