Gyeonggi Province will continue to carry out its fishery activity support project this year as well.
Gyeonggi Province is launching a support program for fishermen who face difficulties in their fishing activities due to accidents and other reasons.
On the 31st, the Gyeonggi Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute announced that it is recruiting applicants for the 'Fishing Activity Support Project' to assist fishermen experiencing hardships due to accidents, illnesses, pregnancy, and childbirth.
The Fishing Activity Support Project provides financial assistance for substitute labor costs to fishermen who find it difficult to engage in fishing activities due to accidents, illnesses, pregnancy, or childbirth, helping them maintain their livelihood and fishing business operations.
The eligible recipients include ▲ fishermen who have been diagnosed and hospitalized for more than one week and require medical care ▲ fishermen hospitalized for more than three days, pregnant women, and fishermen within three months postpartum ▲ fishermen diagnosed with one of the four major severe diseases (cancer, heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, rare incurable diseases, etc.) within the last three years and who have received outpatient treatment within six months ▲ fishermen under self-quarantine due to first- or second-class legally designated infectious diseases, notified by public health centers or medical institutions.
The labor cost support amount is 80,000 KRW per day based on a daily rate of 100,000 KRW. The recipient is responsible for a 20,000 KRW co-payment. Support is provided for up to 30 days per household annually, and up to 60 days for pregnant women and those with the four major severe diseases.
Female fishermen participating in educational courses will receive support for the number of days they attend, and fishermen in quarantine due to legally designated infectious diseases will be supported for the quarantine period as specified by government guidelines.
Kim Seong-gon, director of the Gyeonggi Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute, stated, "We hope this support for temporary labor shortages caused by accidents and illnesses will provide practical help to fishermen, and we will continue to promote various projects to support fishermen in the future."
