Prime Minister Han Duck-soo stated this year that "we will achieve economic growth in the 2% range based on the export recovery centered on semiconductors."
On the afternoon of the 29th, at the New Year's greeting ceremony of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea held at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, Prime Minister Han said, "This year, the third year of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, will be a year to fully realize achievements."
He emphasized, "We will do our best to ease the burden on the people through price stabilization and revive the livelihood economy through domestic demand," adding, "we will actively pursue reforms and innovations for the sustainability of our economy, such as labor, education, and pension reforms."
Prime Minister Han said he will devote all efforts to making Korea a creative technology leader amid the era of digital and green transitions.
He stated, "We will spare no extraordinary support for challenging research and development (R&D) in advanced industrial fields," adding, "we will revitalize investment through strong regulatory reforms and create an industrial ecosystem."
He continued, "We will nurture professionals who will lead advanced industries in line with industrial trends," and said, "this year, the ‘Space Aviation Agency Special Act’ was also enacted, establishing a governance system to advance as a space power."
Prime Minister Han explained that he recently attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he discussed various fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and nuclear power, and at that event, he gained confidence that Korea’s cutting-edge technology can lead the global market.
He said, "Through innovation in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology, we will secure future carbon-free energy sources and enhance sustainability as a leading nuclear power," adding, "For this, we need much support from the members of the National Academy of Engineering."
