Hwasun 100-Won Taxi to Accept Card Payments Starting February 1

Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) announced on the 25th that it has completed the establishment of the Mom Convenient 100-Won Taxi Card Payment System, which is being implemented to facilitate the mobility of residents in transportation-vulnerable areas, and will fully implement it from February 1st.

The 100-Won Taxi service is available to village residents living more than 500 meters away from bus stops, starting from village halls or squares. Currently, 1,186 people in 78 villages are receiving support.

Until now, the 100-Won Taxi service operated by producing coupons distributed to users, and taxi operators submitted settlement statements with attached 100-Won Taxi coupons directly to the town or township offices, resulting in relatively low participation rates in the project.

The county held four meetings, including explaining the background and promotion plan of the 100-Won Taxi card payment system to taxi operators. As a result, all 136 taxis operating in the area joined the project and switched to app meters. The card payment system was completed at the end of last December.

The usage amount for the 100-Won Taxi is 50,000 KRW per person per month (automatically recharged at midnight on the 1st of every month, non-cumulative). When using the service, users pay 100 KRW along with their transportation card, and any amount exceeding 50,000 KRW per month must be borne by the user.

A Hwasun-gun official stated, “The integration of individual and shared usage rights into a card will reduce the budget and allow individuals to freely use the service in town or township locations. Taxi workers also positively evaluate the convenience, such as simplified receipt claims.” He added, “We will continue to actively promote various projects through multifaceted research to improve public transportation convenience for residents.”
