'Climate Donghaeng Card' Gains Popularity... Surpasses 100,000 Cumulative Sales in Two Days

Seoul City's transportation card subscription, the 'Gihu Donghaeng Card,' surpassed 100,000 cumulative sales just two days after its launch.

Despite the freezing weather below zero degrees Celsius, Seoul announced on the 25th that 65,758 physical cards sold offline at subway stations and convenience stores, and 34,914 mobile cards were sold over the two days from the 23rd to the 24th.

Priced in the 60,000 KRW range, the Gihu Donghaeng Card allows unlimited use of public transportation within Seoul, including subways, village buses, and the public bicycle system Dareungi. It was launched on the 23rd. Physical cards can be purchased for 3,000 KRW at the Seoul Subway Lines 1 to 8 Customer Safety Office or convenience stores near subway stations, and Android smartphone users can also buy the card via mobile.

There is also a way to purchase the card by visiting the 'Gihu Donghaeng Card Sales Event Booth' operating at five major stations until the 27th. The event will be held at Euljiroipgu Station, Yeouido Station, Sadang Station, Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station, and Gasan Digital Complex Station from 5 PM to 8 PM on the 26th, and from 3 PM to 6 PM on the 27th.

Seoul City is urgently supplying additional card stock prepared in advance to adjust offline sales supply and demand. However, some stations and convenience stores with high foot traffic may sell out early. The 'Gihu Donghaeng Card' can be used starting from the first bus at 4 AM on the 27th.
