Yoo Young-sang, SKT CEO "Preparing AI Services"
"A.Dot has trial and error but can do well"
Yoo Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom, is scheduled to announce new AI technology services and alliances at the upcoming global information and communication exhibition, Mobile World Congress (MWC), next month.
At the 2024 New Year Meeting of Broadcasting and Telecommunications Professionals held on the 25th at the 63 Building in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, CEO Yoo told reporters that at the MWC held next month in Barcelona, Spain, "Since last year's MWC when ChatGPT emerged, global telecom companies have been deeply considering how to approach AI," adding, "It will be an opportunity not only to announce alliances related to what we have prepared over the past year regarding AI but also to demonstrate the technology services we have developed."
This year, SKT's strategy is also focused on AI. CEO Yoo stated, "Last year, we implemented an AI pyramid strategy, but this year we will focus on execution and achieving results."
He said, "With last year's launch of A. (A-dot), providing call recording and summarization services, customer responses were positive," adding, "Although there were trial and error as it was our first AI service, AI services related to telecommunications have high customer demand and are areas where our company can excel."
Regarding the business direction related to AI, he mentioned three points. CEO Yoo said, "We are preparing AI services related to telecommunications and AI personal assistants," and added, "Many new devices beyond smartphones are emerging, and we plan to launch AI services targeting these devices as well."
