Hong Nampyo, Changwon Special City Mayor, "University and Regional Growth Must Be Achieved Through Cooperation"

Attendance at the ‘Gyeongnam LINC 3.0 Jisanhak EXPO’

On the 25th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam attended the 'Gyeongnam LINC 3.0 University-Industry-Academia EXPO' hosted by the Gyeongnam LINC 3.0 Project Group (4 general universities, 7 technical colleges) at the Changwon Convention Center (CECO) Convention Hall.


At this event, a communication platform was established for sharing achievements among universities in the Gyeongnam region, exploring local government-linked university-industry-research cooperation plans in preparation for the RISE system, and creating an information-sharing platform.


First, faculty and students from the Gyeongnam LINC 3.0 Project Group, officials from Gyeongsangnam-do and local governments, related local organizations, and regional innovative companies attended to share excellent cases of university-industry cooperation.

The Gyeongnam LINC 3.0 Project Group (including National Changwon University, Gyeongnam National University, Gyeongsang National University, Inje University, Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College, Gyeongnam Provincial Namhae College, Geoje College, Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology, Masan College, Yeonam Institute of Technology, and Changwon Moonsung College) derived joint cooperation plans regarding the project policy direction.


There were keynote lectures on ▲ Gyeongnam's RISE direction ▲ Industrial cooperation direction within the regional innovation university support system ▲ LINC evolution direction within the RISE system.


The city will form a university-industry-research-government council to jointly discover RISE projects linked to regional strategic industries.


Plans include establishing a Changwon-type university innovation support system that leads to quality jobs in fields such as service-related professional departments for nurturing local residential talent, manufacturing AI, AI and big data-based medical bio, and digital transformation.


Mayor Hong said, “It was an honor to have the opportunity through this event for Gyeongnam's universities and Changwon City to engrave each other's roles and responsibilities in their hearts,” adding, “We will spare no effort to ensure that universities and the region can grow together through university-industry-academia cooperation.”
