The Daegu Metropolitan Council (Chairman Lee Man-gyu) held an appointment ceremony for the ‘Daegu Metropolitan Council Ethics Review Advisory Committee’ at 11 a.m. on the 25th in the council meeting room.
The Daegu Council formed the ‘Daegu Metropolitan Council Ethics Review Advisory Committee’ with seven private experts from various fields including academia, legal profession, media, and civil society organizations. Immediately after the appointment ceremony, the Ethics Review Advisory Committee meeting was held, where Professor Park Chang-je of the College of Social Sciences at Kyungpook National University was elected as the chairman, and under his leadership, the overall operation of the advisory committee was discussed.

The Daegu Metropolitan Council Ethics Review Advisory Committee is based on the ‘Local Autonomy Act’ and provides advisory services to the chairman regarding council members’ concurrent positions and profit-making activities, compliance with the council members’ code of ethics and ethical practice standards, and disciplinary matters referred by the Ethics Special Committee. The term of committee members is two years, with the possibility of one reappointment.
Lee Man-gyu, chairman of the Daegu Metropolitan Council, stated, “As citizens’ expectations for fair and responsible legislative activities have risen, the role and responsibility of local councils to meet these expectations have increased. I ask for the valuable advice of the advisory committee members who are active in various fields.”
