Yangcheon-gu Operates 'Seoul Eomma Appa Taxi'... Supporting Outings with Infants

Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will officially operate the ‘Seoul Mom Dad Taxi (Yangcheon I Sarang Taxi)’ project, which supports safe and comfortable outings for families raising infants under 24 months by providing taxi vouchers worth 100,000 KRW per infant annually.

The ‘Seoul Mom Dad Taxi (Yangcheon I Sarang Taxi)’ project offers taxi vouchers for large taxis exclusively for infants, equipped with convenience facilities such as car seats, air purifiers, and tablet PCs.

Through a pilot project last year, the district recorded a total of 8,700 uses annually and an average of 1,100 uses monthly (40 uses daily) for 2,273 infants.

The main usage locations were hospitals and pharmacies (43.3%), reflecting the characteristics of families with infants and young children.

In particular, by providing differentiated services such as simple application procedures and friendly operation, the project achieved a satisfaction rate of 89.9%. This year, the district actively reflected field opinions requesting fare reductions and improved the service by introducing a special discount fare system with ‘no reservation fee.’

The support target for the ‘Seoul Mom Dad Taxi (Yangcheon I Sarang Taxi)’ is families raising infants under 24 months who are registered residents of Yangcheon-gu. Each infant is provided with taxi usage points worth 100,000 KRW annually. Not only parents but also actual caregivers such as (maternal or paternal) grandparents and relatives within the third degree living at the same address can apply through the taxi operator ‘i.M (I.M)’ mobile app.

Applications for the service are currently being accepted and may close early if the budget is exhausted. Required documents include a resident registration certificate issued within one month showing both the caregiver and infant registered together, with the resident registration number’s back digits excluded.

Taxi vouchers are issued immediately in the form of points upon approval by the district office after application. The points are valid until December 15, after which any remaining points will be automatically forfeited. However, families raising newborns under six months must make a reservation for a dedicated car seat at least 24 hours in advance.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “We hope many will use the ‘Seoul Mom Dad Taxi (Yangcheon I Sarang Taxi),’ which allows safe and comfortable travel anywhere without burden with your beloved child. We will continue to support making Yangcheon-gu a happy city where daily life with children is joyful.”
