Kim Seonghwan: "I will confidently and boldly rebuild Honam politics"

Kim Seong-hwan, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for Gwangju Dong-gu Nam-gu Eul in the general election, officially declared his candidacy for the upcoming general election to be held in April on the 25th.

On the morning of the same day, Candidate Kim held a press conference at the briefing room on the 3rd floor of the Gwangju City Council and stated, "I will rebuild Honam politics with confident and refreshing politics."

He criticized the government and ruling party, which should be responsible for solving accumulating national challenges such as economic recession, polarization, low birthrate, security instability, and climate crisis, saying that no one, including the president, is taking responsibility. He pledged to take the lead in realizing people-centered politics, including political reform for the people such as abolishing parliamentary privileges, eliminating discrimination based on gender, region, and class, achieving a unified society through resolving polarization, and preparing pioneering measures for the future.

Furthermore, he argued that new growth engines are needed for the development of the Dongnam-eul constituency and stated that by combining digital industries such as AI (artificial intelligence) and online industries to create new demand and momentum, he will focus on six key areas to provide various opportunities for youth, high-quality education for children, and more welfare benefits and jobs for residents.

Specifically, to revitalize the local economy and jobs, he plans to ▲ actively attract and support the digital commercial district promotion of Chungjang-ro old downtown, healthcare industry, K-beauty industry, and online industries ▲ to promote culture and tourism, establish an integrated tourism belt encompassing Nam-gu Yangnim, Sajik-dong, and Dong-gu Chungjang, Dongmyeong-dong through the creation of citizen spaces along Gwangju Stream, create an Asia Culture Town complementing the Asia Culture Center, introduce new tourism products such as hot air balloons, and create artist creative spaces ▲ to improve education, welfare, and medical conditions, establish an education special zone to resolve school avoidance districts, build child-themed playground facilities, introduce a medical industry special zone, improve treatment for welfare and child facility workers, and create a pet theme park ▲ to build a healthy and eco-friendly city, expand park golf courses, create a loess walking trail, and lay the foundation to eliminate sewage odor, a long-standing issue in Dongnam-eul ▲ to improve transportation infrastructure, extend the subway to Hwasun, resolve chronic congestion areas such as Sotae IC, and increase village bus services ▲ to enhance residents' convenience, secure parking lots by constructing parking towers, build multipurpose centers, and continuously promote urban regeneration projects.

Finally, Candidate Kim Seong-hwan stated, "I will rebuild Honam politics with confident and refreshing politics," and appealed for support and encouragement, saying, "Since I know both central and local conditions, please give me the opportunity to do bigger and more work."
