"Why does former President Lee Myung-bak want to have lunch with the People Power Party Seoul city council members?"

Former President Lee Myung-bak (MB) is scheduled to hold a lunch meeting with about 70 People Power Party Seoul city council members on February 2nd from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Seoul Partners House Convention Hall, the official residence of the Seoul Mayor in Yongsan, which has raised curiosity among the city council members.

According to officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Council, the People Power Party floor leader's office recently sent an official letter to the city council members inviting them to the "2024 People Power Party Seoul City Council Members New Year Lunch Meeting."

The letter stated that former President Lee Myung-bak, People Power Party Seoul Metropolitan Council Representative Choi Ho-jung, and all People Power Party city council members will attend to exchange New Year greetings for 2024 and have a friendly conversation.

The city council members who received this are puzzled. Council member A, who holds a key position in the Seoul Metropolitan Council, said, "I cannot understand why former President Lee Myung-bak wants to have lunch with the Seoul city council members."

Another council member B expressed discomfort, saying, "It seems somewhat unexpected that former President Lee Myung-bak wants to have lunch with the city council members in the current Seoul Mayor's official space," and added, "I wonder if there is another intention behind this."

The Seoul city council members are widely curious whether former President Lee Myung-bak intends to influence the upcoming second half Seoul Metropolitan Council chairperson election, which will be held around June, through this lunch meeting.

C council member also said, "I will go on the day and see what the intention is."
