A Total of 13 Special Steel Products Including Carbon Alloy Steel and Stainless Steel
SeAH Besteel and SeAH Changwon Special Steel announced on the 25th that they have obtained Global Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification for their special steel products.
EPD certification is a system that quantitatively displays environmental information for all processes of products and services, including raw material extraction, production, transportation and distribution, use, and disposal, providing customers with criteria to judge eco-friendly products. The products certified by SeAH Besteel and SeAH Changwon Special Steel from 'EPD International,' an environmental research institute based in Sweden, total 13 items including carbon alloy steel and stainless steel.
SeAH Besteel received certification for three main special steel product groups, including carbon alloy steel bars, wire rods, and round bars. SeAH Changwon Special Steel obtained EPD certification for a total of 10 special steel product groups, including stainless steel (STS) wire rods, round bars, flat bars, steel pipes, tool steel round bars and flat bars, and special alloy steel wire rods and round bars.

SeAH Besteel and SeAH Changwon Special Steel were highly evaluated for various carbon reduction activities such as greenhouse gas reduction through electric furnace operation, recycling of their main raw material iron scrap, and by-products generated during the production process. Both companies focused on producing accurate and systematic data necessary for providing environmental impact information. They provided data on energy input by source for special steel production, as well as emissions of environmental pollutants including carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and wastewater generated throughout all processes.
Through this EPD certification, SeAH Besteel and SeAH Changwon Special Steel plan to enhance their global competitiveness while actively securing sales networks in Europe, where environmental regulations are stringent.
A representative from SeAH Besteel stated, "With the strengthening of environmental regulations on steel products such as the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and the introduction of the US Clean Competition Act, we are reinforcing the environmental impact information system, including calculating carbon emissions by steel grade. We will continue to develop low-carbon products and improve processes to become a leading eco-friendly player in the global special steel market."
