Korean DJ and producer Peggy Gou has been nominated for the UK's most prestigious popular music awards, the BRIT Awards.

On the 24th (local time), the BRIT Awards announced Peggy Gou (real name Kim Minji) as a nominee for the 'International Song of the Year' category with her track "(It Goes Like) Nanana." This is the first time a Korean musician has been nominated in the International Song category. Other nominees include Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat, and SZA. Previously, BTS (in 2021 and 2022) and BLACKPINK (in 2023) were nominated in the 'International Group of the Year' category but did not win. Started in 1977, the BRIT Awards are organized by the British Phonographic Industry, and the final winners will be announced on March 2.

Incheon-born entertainers such as Kim Gura, Kim Donghyun, Jisangryeol, and Yeom Kyunghwan promote Incheon through the 'Incheon Family' YouTube channel.

After signing with the renowned UK record label XL Recordings, Peggy Gou released the single "(It Goes Like) Nanana" in June last year. The song gained huge popularity on social media platforms such as TikTok, entering the top ranks of the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100. Riding this wave, Peggy Gou was recently ranked third among the most promising musicians of the year by BBC Radio 1.

Based in Germany, Peggy Gou is originally from Incheon and moved to London at the age of 15 to study abroad. She later enrolled in a London fashion college, where she learned DJ skills and became deeply involved in music. She debuted in 2016 with her self-produced first mini-album, "Art of War." As Peggy Gou gains attention, stars from Incheon are also drawing interest.

Broadcaster Kim Gura has emphasized his Incheon roots on various shows, expressing his affection for the city. He attended Incheon Jemulpo High School with Yeom Kyunghwan and Ji Sangryeol. They promote Incheon through their YouTube channel called Incheon Family.
