Meeting on Lunar New Year Price Stability Measures Hosted by Deputy Mayor at City Hall on the 25th at 3 PM
Lunar New Year Price Stability... Expanded Supply of Seasonal Goods, Dongbaekjeon Events, Direct Marketplaces, and More
On the 25th at 3 PM, Busan City will hold the 'Lunar New Year Price Stabilization Measures Meeting' in the 26th-floor conference room of City Hall to review the progress of the city's price stabilization measures and discuss measures by related agencies.
Consumer prices, which started at 5% early last year, have recently fallen to the low 3% range, maintaining an overall stable price trend. However, concerns remain over continued uncertainties such as volatility in international oil prices due to geopolitical conflicts and abnormal weather conditions. In particular, prices of agricultural products like fruits are expected to rise further due to decreased harvests caused by poor weather and increased demand during the holiday season.
This measures meeting was organized to actively respond to these concerns and to promote stability in citizens' lives during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Presided over by Deputy Mayor Lee Jun-seung, officials from related organizations such as the Fair Trade Commission, National Tax Service, Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, and distribution-related groups including wholesale corporations will attend to discuss price stabilization plans.
At the meeting, the city will discuss recent price trends, the progress of the city's price stabilization measures, and agency-specific plans, while listening to on-site feedback from participating organizations and seeking their cooperation with city policies.
Ahead of the Lunar New Year, the supply of seasonal products such as fruits, which experience concentrated demand, will be significantly increased compared to normal times, and related groups including wholesale corporations will be actively encouraged to ship larger quantities. Additionally, the city plans to strengthen collection activities at production sites to maximize the supply of seasonal products.
Furthermore, for major items such as agricultural products, a supply and price stabilization task force will be formed and operated until prices stabilize, making every effort to stabilize food prices.
Various city policies aimed at reducing citizens' price burdens will also be promoted, including the Dongbaekjeon and Zero Pay Lunar New Year events, direct transaction markets, seafood discounts, and traditional market Onnuri gift certificate refund events.
The city will also conduct joint on-site guidance and inspections with district offices, the National Agricultural and Fishery Products Quality Management Service, the Fair Trade Commission, and other related agencies to check origin labeling and collusion, making every effort to stabilize prices.
Deputy Mayor Lee Jun-seung stated, “Price stabilization is the top priority for stabilizing people’s livelihoods, and our city will do its utmost to ensure that citizens can have a warm Lunar New Year by fully committing to holiday price stabilization.”
