Outstanding ESG Management
Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced that local businesses in Gangdong-gu are continuing to participate in the 2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Fundraising Campaign. Companies are leading the way in community development by practicing the value of sharing in their own ways.
On December 22 last year, Daseong Construction, Gangdong-gu’s first and Seoul’s 30th Sharing Honor Company, generously donated 100 million KRW. This donation marks the third time following contributions of 100 million KRW in 2020 and 2022. Chairman Yang Jae-gon of Daseong Construction stated, “Companies must fulfill their social responsibilities and duties and should not be stingy in caring for their neighbors.”
Earlier, on December 7, Han Myung-seop, CEO of KDW Wedding, and his spouse Kim Young-ae donated a total of 200 million KRW, joining the Community Chest of Korea’s Honor Society (a group of donors contributing over 100 million KRW). Among this, 50 million KRW was donated to Gangdong-gu to support local community development. CEO Han, who became a second-generation Honor Society member along with his parents, actively supports local volunteer activities through his company, KDW Wedding.
The 2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Fundraising Campaign also highlighted a noticeable shift in corporate awareness toward social value management (ESG management).
Dodram Pig Farming Cooperative (Chairman Park Kwang-wook) conducted two plogging environmental cleanup activities around the Godeokcheon area with about 80 employees. They calculated the cumulative steps from plogging and donated Dodram products worth approximately 12 million KRW to free meal facilities for the elderly. Additionally, Sunjin Logistics (CEO Jung Yoo-jin), an international logistics company, held an online charity bazaar at the end of the year with about 200 employees, donating 5 million KRW from the proceeds and contributions to practice resource recycling and neighborly sharing together.
Moreover, Dongwon Healthcare (CEO Hyun Joon-jae), a pharmaceutical distribution and sales company, gifted 760 toy mini cars to children from low-income multicultural families and donated 3 million KRW to the ‘Hope Stepping Stone Fund’ to support the independence of children leaving facilities.
District Mayor Lee Soo-hee said, “Thanks to the wholehearted participation of many residents, businesses, and organizations in the community in the Warm Winter Campaign, the thermometer on the Love Temperature Tower has risen to 90 degrees. I appreciate the participation and ask for continued interest and support so that the Love Temperature can exceed 100 degrees.”
The ‘2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ campaign will run until February 14, and donations can be made through the Gangdong-gu Office Welfare Policy Division or nearby community service centers.
