Average 1,000 Vehicles Visit Songpa-gu Office Daily...Urgent Need to Resolve Office Parking Shortage
Seo Gang-seok, District Mayor: "District Office as Starting Point of 'Service Administration,' Must Be Convenient for Residents"
The Songpa District Office building faces a severe parking shortage.
The parking spaces are very limited, making it extremely difficult for visitors to find parking, as if trying to catch a star in the sky.
Accordingly, Songpa District (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will convert a privately operated parking lot near Seokchon Lake into the "Songpa District Office Second Parking Lot" by February to provide parking convenience for residents visiting the district office.
The Songpa District Office's attached parking lot was established in 1993 when the district office building was constructed. It is small in size and the facilities are outdated, resulting in a serious parking shortage. Currently, there are a total of 146 parking spaces (47 above ground, 99 underground), but with an average of about 1,000 vehicles visiting the district office daily, the space is insufficient, causing significant inconvenience to residents.
District Mayor Seo Gang-seok stated, "We have explored various measures to resolve the long-standing parking difficulties experienced by many residents at the district office," and added, "Through active consultations with the company operating the private parking lot near Seokchon Lake, we have achieved the meaningful result of establishing the Songpa District Office Second Parking Lot."
The "Songpa District Office Second Parking Lot" is located at 166 Songpanaru-gil. It was previously operated as a private parking lot near the east lake of Seokchon Lake. It is about 100 meters in a straight line from the district office, taking approximately 2 to 3 minutes on foot, making it convenient for residents visiting the district office. The parking lot has a total of 20 spaces and is scheduled to open in February for year-round operation.
In addition, since the start of the 8th local government term, the district has been striving to enhance administrative trust by improving the district office environment and providing high-quality civil services to realize the administrative direction of "servant administration." Key initiatives include ▲ operating the nation's first "One-Stop Permit Civil Service" by reorganizing the second floor of the district office ▲ replacing outdated facilities such as elevators and parking control systems ▲ improving shared spaces for residents such as the auditorium and gymnasium ▲ creating a lawn plaza in front of the district office.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa District, said, "The district office building should be a space where residents can visit comfortably at any time," and added, "We will continue to improve inconveniences from the residents' perspective so that the district office becomes the starting point of 'servant administration' that serves residents as its owners."
