Cho Young-jin, the regional chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea for Busanjin-gu Eul, declared his candidacy for the 22nd National Assembly election in Busanjin-gu (Eul) at 10 a.m. on the 24th at the Busan City Council briefing room.
Preliminary candidate Cho said, "I am running to judge the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, which is heading toward a crisis of democracy, economic collapse, the creation of a North-South confrontation structure, accelerated local extinction, and prosecutorial dictatorship, and to revive the declining economy of ordinary people and Busanjin-gu."
Candidate Cho also stated, "The current government has destroyed the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) Megacity plan that was being painstakingly developed and is pushing forward the Seoul Megacity, which leads to national ruin," adding, "The Democratic Party must win this general election to correct the government that is heading down the wrong path."
He continued, "If elected as the 22nd National Assembly member, I will first stand at the forefront of the struggle to stop the regression of democracy under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and end prosecutorial dictatorship, and I will revive the stranded Bu-Ul-Gyeong Megacity to restore Busan as one of the seven core economic zones in Northeast Asia."
He also said he plans to attract the Korea Development Bank, currently a major issue in Busan, to Busanjin-gu and develop Busanjin-gu into a financial hub city along with the Munhyeon Financial Complex.
Regarding local issues, he expressed his determination to relocate the Gaya Livestock Market, which divides Busanjin-gu north and south, to outside the city and create the largest safari park in the country there to attract tourists and create jobs.
At the press conference, Kim Du-kwan, National Assembly member for Yangsan (Eul), also attended to support preliminary candidate Cho Young-jin.
After the candidacy press conference, candidate Cho will visit Bongha Village to pay respects at the tomb of former President Roh Moo-hyun and then begin full-scale election campaigning.
Cho Young-jin’s campaign chairman is expected to be former Busan Mayor Moon Jeong-su.
