The Fair Election Monitoring Group and the election campaign headquarters pledged to ▲ comply with election laws ▲ reject money and entertainment ▲ refrain from negative campaigning, including slander and defamation against opposing candidates, and to practice fair elections.
They also decided to operate a Fair Election Planning Team and Legal Support Team composed of lawyers to ensure fair elections and to provide education on election law and legal violation cases.
Preliminary candidate Kim Seong-jin stated, “Fair elections are essential to prevent slander and defamation during the primary process and to preempt intra-party division and conflict after the primary,” adding, “I ask this campaign headquarters to do their best to uphold the principles of fair elections, conduct policy elections to revive people’s livelihoods, and ensure a fair and beautiful election.”
He continued, “Many people in Gwangsan are concerned about the regional economic downturn and job issues,” and said, “Solving these problems is the historical mission and command I have received from the residents of Gwangsan-gu and Gwangju City. I will earn the citizens’ choice through a policy election focused solely on Gwangju and solely on the economy, aimed at resolving citizens’ job issues and promoting regional development.”
