Samhwa Paint Introduces Biodegradable Paint Containers

Samhwa Paint Industrial is introducing biodegradable paint containers.

On the 23rd, Samhwa Paint announced that it signed a "Biodegradable Eco-friendly Paint Container Development Business Agreement" with SK TVM GOSTONE, an investment company in SKC's biodegradable RIMEX material business, and P&B, a circular plastic manufacturer.

On this day, the three companies agreed to actively cooperate in ▲applying and selling eco-friendly paint containers ▲developing and supplying eco-friendly raw materials optimized for paint containers ▲developing and manufacturing paint containers.

The biodegradable paint containers introduced through this agreement have inherent biodegradation properties, offering the advantage of decomposing faster compared to the oxidation biodegradation method that uses decomposition accelerators.

The biodegradable paint containers decompose through microorganisms, heat, and moisture when buried, and decompose more than 90% within six months under composting conditions. These containers are made from biodegradable materials combining PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate) and natural limestone.

Samhwa Paint plans to first apply the biodegradable containers to its high-quality water-based paint series "iLux." The "iLux" series boasts eco-friendliness that allows safe use even in spaces with children. This product has obtained environmental label certification as an eco-friendly product.

A representative from Samhwa Paint said, "We are cooperating with various sectors to create a sustainable society and minimize environmental pollution caused by plastic waste," adding, "We plan to actively support eco-friendly consumption pursued by consumers."
