Expansion of Support for Circulating Librarians in Small Libraries in Guro-gu Implemented

Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) has been selected for the second consecutive year in the "2024 Small Library Circulating Librarian Support" contest hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Library Culture Promotion Foundation.

As a result, the support for small library circulating librarians will continue for 10 months from February to November this year as well.

The number of supported libraries has expanded from 2 to 4 (Hangdong Small Library, Sikkeureoun Library, Kkumkium Small Library, Initech Library), and the number of circulating librarians has increased from 1 to 2.

The district plans to complete the selection of circulating librarians within this month and officially launch the project from February.

The circulating librarians assigned to the selected libraries will provide △collection management △information service tasks △practical training, helping small libraries with insufficient professional operating staff to be managed efficiently.

Users will be offered professional and systematic reading culture programs.

A Guro-gu official stated, “Through this project, we will support the stable operation of small libraries and develop programs tailored to their characteristics to effectively support residents' reading activities. We will continue to strive to create an atmosphere where books are close and reading is encouraged.”
