On the 23rd, SK Telecom, SK Broadband, and 10 other SK affiliates related to ICT, along with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation (KESCO), announced that they have signed a business agreement to improve the electrical safety of communication infrastructure and will work on enhancing the safety of communication electrical facilities.

This agreement was made between SKT and KESCO to support facility inspections for the safe operation of communication electrical facilities and to jointly develop related technologies to prevent electrical fires.

Both parties agreed to exchange information and technology related to electrical communication facilities and cooperate on improving electrical safety systems. In particular, they plan to jointly develop AI-based online diagnostic technology for lithium batteries and precision diagnostics and fire prevention solutions for lithium batteries installed at over 500 SKT communication stations nationwide to prepare for emergencies such as power outages.

At the event, Kang Jong-ryeol, SKT CSPO (Chief Safety and Health Officer) President, and Park Ji-hyun, KESCO President, shared their understanding of the importance of communication infrastructure and agreed to mutually cooperate to provide technical support for securing electrical safety and strengthening the safety capabilities of electrical communication facilities.

Both parties conducted a precise safety inspection of lithium batteries at Seoul subway base stations. They are preparing for temporary power outages caused by inspections by receiving mobile notifications of electrical inspection schedules for buildings housing approximately 41,000 communication facilities of SKT and SK Broadband nationwide.

Kang Jong-ryeol, SKT CSPO President, said, "Through this agreement, we have laid the foundation for the stable operation of power facilities to provide the best communication services," adding, "We will take the lead in electrical safety by developing and establishing AI-based electrical facility solutions in the future."
