The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 23rd that it will hold the 'Korea-EU Airspace Management Workshop,' sharing airspace management techniques of the European Union (EU), for three days until the 25th at the Lotte City Hotel near Gimpo Airport in Seoul.
Started in 2022, this workshop aims to facilitate exchanges between the Ministry's Aviation Policy Office and the EU European Aviation Safety Agency. It covers 11 cooperation tasks including air navigation, traffic management, environment, and drones.
About 60 airspace sector officials and related experts will attend this workshop to discuss efficient airspace management methods. The EU side will present civil-military cooperation activities by military personnel and cases of flexible airspace use, and introduce the European Airspace Management Support System (LARA). The Ministry will share domestic FUA application cases and demonstrate the web-based National Airspace Integrated Management System (NAIMS) functions. FUA refers to an airspace management method where airspace is not owned by a specific user but regarded as a single airspace allocated according to user demands such as time and conditions.
Kim Sang-su, head of the Aviation Traffic Headquarters at the Ministry, said, "This workshop will be a cornerstone for improving the National Airspace Integrated Management System and efficient airspace management," adding, "We expect that civil-military cooperation as well as Korea-EU relations will take a step forward."
