On the 22nd, SH Corporation and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for the Construction of the National Korean Literature Museum" and pledged to cooperate in building the museum.

The Literature Museum, to be located in the former reporters' village (around 175 Jingwan-dong, Eunpyeong-gu), is expected to serve as a cultural and artistic hub for citizens to enjoy culture and arts, as well as to promote the development of Korean literature and local cultural arts. The site area is 13,248 square meters.

As the project implementer for the Eunpyeong district, SH Corporation will provide the site for the Literature Museum and cooperate to ensure smooth progress of the construction project. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to build the museum as a world-class facility and contribute to the development of local community culture and arts.

The two organizations have been consulting with the relevant local government since 2018 to build the Literature Museum. In November 2021, the redevelopment promotion plan was amended, and in August last year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested SH Corporation to donate the site for the museum.

Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "With this memorandum of understanding, I hope the long-cherished project of the literary community, the construction of the National Korean Literature Museum, will be successfully promoted and serve as a cultural facility representing the nation."

Kim Heon-dong, President of SH Corporation, said, "We are pleased that our corporation can contribute to the construction of the National Korean Literature Museum for the development of Korean literature," and added, "We hope that this agreement will lead to the smooth construction of the museum so that Seoul citizens and local residents can enjoy culture and arts even more."
