Gwangju Metropolitan City Buk-gu will operate the ‘Hope Growing for Youth Preparing for Independence, Hanultari Camp’ for 1 night and 2 days from the 22nd to the 23rd at Mudeungsan Ecological Exploration Center.
Youth preparing for independence are young people who were protected in child welfare facilities or foster families and whose protection ended upon turning 18. The Hope Growing Camp is a new policy of Buk-gu for 2024, designed to provide these youths with opportunities to strengthen their independence capabilities, promoting healthy growth and stable settlement in the local community.
Under the theme of ‘Beautiful Standing Together,’ this camp will be held from 1:20 PM on the first day to 1:30 PM the following day, with about 60 youth preparing for independence participating. The program includes ▲Opening Ceremony ▲Meeting with Independence Seniors ▲Personal Branding Lecture ▲Psychological Therapy ▲Housing Welfare Education ▲Tour of Kia Motors Gwangju Plant.
First, at the opening ceremony on the first day, along with the ceremony marking the start of the event, a business agreement will be signed among Gwangju Buk-gu, the social welfare corporation ‘World Vision Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters (Director Jeong Byeongwon),’ the social enterprise ‘Brothers Keeper (CEO Kim Seongmin),’ and the youth preparing for independence group ‘Hanul (CEO Kim Namjung)’ to strengthen the role of supporting youth whose protection has ended in the local community.
Through this agreement, World Vision Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters will provide psychological therapy fees and goods sponsorship for youth preparing for independence; Brothers Keeper will support self-sufficiency education; Hanul will operate youth preparing for independence meetings and provide space; and Buk-gu will strive to discover support policies linked with collaborative organizations.
After the opening ceremony, programs such as ‘Meeting with Independence Seniors,’ where participants hear firsthand stories of independence from seniors, ‘Personal Branding Lecture’ themed on total image making with my own color, and ‘Self-growth Psychological Therapy’ using psychological role play will be held.
On the second day, ‘Housing Welfare Education’ providing guidance on rental housing and necessary information for home ownership, and a ‘Tour of Kia Motors Gwangju Plant’ for in-depth understanding of the automobile industry will be offered to help youth preparing for independence plan their future.
