Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, is recruiting additional students for the 7th term of the Residential Agricultural Startup Support Center for prospective return-to-farming and return-to-village individuals until the 31st of this month.
According to the county on the 22nd, this additional recruitment is to provide stay opportunities for prospective return-to-farming and return-to-village individuals due to remaining households and additional vacancies after the first recruitment from December 5 to January 5 last year.
The Gochang-gun Residential Agricultural Startup Support Center is equipped with educational facilities such as a farming education center and a startup farmer education center.
It also has accommodations where residents can stay during the residency period (20 units of communal housing, 10 units of detached houses) and farming facilities for students to practice, including a community facility house, personal gardens, cold storage warehouses, and agricultural machinery storage.
The enrolled students will live in the residential facilities for nine months from March to November, spending time to stably settle into rural life through various educational programs such as crop cultivation technique training, field visits to leading farms, cultivation of crops in the communal practice house and communal garden, and cultural heritage exploration.
Eligibility requires that applicants be urban residents born after January 1, 1958, who currently have a domestic address under the Resident Registration Act and have lived for more than one year in urban areas (dong) outside of rural areas (eup/myeon).
For detailed information on application, applicants should check the recruitment announcement on the county office website and submit the application form and agricultural startup plan, among other related documents, by visiting the Gochang-gun Residential Agricultural Startup Support Center or sending them by registered mail.
Hyun Haeng-yeol, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “Since many crops produced in Gochang are gaining nationwide attention, this is an optimal space for prospective return-to-farming and return-to-village individuals interested in various crops,” and added, “We hope for the active interest and participation of urban residents considering return-to-farming and return-to-village.”
