Homeplus Appoints Jo Ju-yeon as New CEO... Lee Je-hoon Promoted to Vice Chairman

Contribution to Securing Growth Drivers Including Mega Food Market

Homeplus conducted executive promotions on the 22nd and appointed Jo Ju-yeon, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), as the CEO. President Lee Je-hoon was promoted to Vice Chairman.


Newly appointed CEO Jo Ju-yeon has been recognized for playing a key role in revitalizing the Homeplus brand and driving growth across all sectors through initiatives such as the ‘25-year-old Fresh Thinking’ brand campaign, the ‘Price Stabilization Project,’ ‘Dangdang Chicken,’ and the launch of ‘Homeplus Mega Food Market.’

Homeplus launched the Mega Food Market, resulting in a significant increase in sales per store, with some stores seeing sales grow by up to 95%. Additionally, by introducing customer-tailored delivery systems such as immediate delivery and mart delivery, the online sector has achieved over 20% annual high growth, demonstrating clear results across both online and offline sectors. The Homeplus membership base has also expanded dramatically, surpassing 9 million members.


This personnel change focuses on strengthening the leadership system in recognition of achievements in increasing sales through proactive investments and securing mid- to long-term growth momentum. Through the promotion, CEO Lee Je-hoon was elevated to Vice Chairman to focus on establishing mid- to long-term strategies such as sustainable growth. No separate organization has been established yet.


For the time being, Kim Kwang-il, Vice Chairman of MBK Partners and a member of the board as well as an outside director, will concurrently serve as Vice Chairman of the company’s CEO and support CEO Jo Ju-yeon. The term is indefinite.
