The operation period is a total of 6 days from February 8 to 13, and it is available at the 'Companion Dog Care Shelter' inside the Seocho Animal Love Center.
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced that it will operate a 'Pet Dog Care Shelter' during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday period to ease the burden of pet dog care for dog owners who will be away from home.
The operation period is for a total of 6 days from February 8 to 13, and it will be available at the 'Pet Dog Care Shelter' located within the Seocho Animal Love Center.
Experienced professional caregivers (pet sitters) reside here to ensure residents can entrust their dogs with peace of mind. They continuously patrol the dogs' conditions and monitor them via CCTV, thoroughly managing feeding, excretion, and other care. In case of emergencies such as illness or injury, dogs will be transported to a 24-hour animal hospital.
Applicants can visit the Seocho Animal Love Center from January 22 to 31 to register. Eligible applicants are small to medium-sized dogs over 5 months old registered in the district. For more details, contact the Seocho Animal Love Center (Yangjaecheon-ro 19-gil 22). The cost is 5,000 KRW, a minimal fee covering cleaning and disinfection.
Priority for application is given in the following order: ▲ Seocho-gu residents who have adopted abandoned dogs (1st priority) ▲ Low-income households (2nd priority) ▲ Families who adopted from the Seocho Animal Love Center and Seocho-gu residents (3rd priority).
The Seocho Animal Love Center has been providing pet dog care services during Lunar New Year, Chuseok holidays, and summer vacation periods since 2019, with the number of users increasing every year.
Additionally, the district promotes various animal welfare programs to improve the health of pet owners and their dogs, including dog walking education, dog sports, and pet logging (environmental cleanup while walking dogs).
Furthermore, the district operates the 'Seoripul Rainbow Group' to help overcome the grief of losing pets and supports a 30% discount on funeral costs for humane pet funerals when a resident’s pet passes away. It also provides adoption fees of up to 500,000 KRW, the highest among local governments nationwide, to residents adopting abandoned animals.
Mayor Jeon Seong-su of Seocho-gu said, “I hope pet families will entrust their dogs to the care shelter and spend the holiday with peace of mind during this Lunar New Year holiday.” He added, “We will continue to expand policies to promote the health of both pet owners and their pets and strive to make Seocho a happy place where people and animals live together.”
