Chinese State Media: "Korean Semiconductors Fail to Find Alternative Market in China... US Interference Must Decrease"

China's state-run media claimed that it is impossible for South Korean semiconductor companies to find a replacement for the Chinese market, arguing that South Korea should politically lean towards China rather than the United States.

In an article on the 21st, the Global Times, an English-language outlet affiliated with the People's Daily of China, mentioned South Korea's recent efforts to establish a semiconductor mega cluster, stating, "Given South Korea's heavy reliance on the semiconductor industry, it is understandable that South Korea announced an ambitious expansion of its semiconductor industry despite the intensifying semiconductor war led by the United States."

It added, "If production expands, South Korea might increase exports to the Chinese market," but pointed out, "To do so, South Korea must continue to mitigate the impact of U.S. political interference."

The Global Times claimed that China has benefited South Korea's semiconductor industry, while recently the United States has caused losses.

The outlet stated, "It is clear that the mutually beneficial cooperation between the Chinese and Korean semiconductor industries has brought tangible benefits to Korean companies and created important opportunities for industrial development. Conversely, the U.S. coercion to involve South Korea in tightening restrictions on Chinese semiconductors is causing significant losses to Korean semiconductor companies."

It further emphasized, "If South Korea increases investment in the semiconductor industry, it also needs to increase exports to China," and quoted SK Hynix Chairman {$_Choi Tae-won saying, "It is impossible for South Korean semiconductor manufacturers to find a replacement for the Chinese market, and the U.S. government's efforts to restrict South Korean semiconductor exports to China will only result in South Korea losing a significant portion of its market share in China."
