Up to 375 Million KRW Support for Startups and Home Purchases in the Fisheries and Fishing Village Sector
Pohang City is recruiting candidates for the '2024 Return-to-Fishing Startup and Housing Purchase Support Project' until February 16.
The 2024 Return-to-Fishing Startup and Housing Purchase Support Project is a program that promotes loan support for fisheries-related startups and housing purchase funds to help urban residents who wish to return to fishing settle stably in fishing villages and revitalize fishing areas.
The support targets return-to-fishing workers (including hopefuls) and non-fishing residents in fishing villages who are under 65 years old as of this year (born after January 1, 1958) and meet the eligibility and requirements specified in the announcement, selected through screening.
Return-to-fishing workers must have lived outside rural fishing areas for at least one year immediately before moving to a rural fishing area or must have moved into a fishing village area within the last five years. Additionally, non-fishing residents in fishing villages must have been registered residents in rural fishing areas for more than one year and have no experience in fishing or aquaculture within the last five years as of the application year to be eligible to apply.
The fisheries and fishing village business startup funds provide up to 300 million KRW, and housing purchase or new construction funds provide up to 75 million KRW, with an annual loan interest rate of 1.5%, a 5-year grace period, and repayment in installments over 10 years.
Applicants wishing to apply for the 2024 Return-to-Fishing Startup and Housing Purchase Support Project can refer to the '2024 Return-to-Fishing Startup and Housing Purchase Support (Loan) Project Application Announcement' posted on the Pohang City Hall website and submit the application form, business plan, credit investigation report (issued by the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives), and other related documents in person to the Fisheries Policy Division of Pohang City Hall within the deadline.
Jung Cheol-young, head of the Fisheries Policy Division, said, "Fishing villages, which are facing real population issues such as population decline and aging, urgently need the influx of young and new personnel to regain vitality and maintain fishing communities. Going forward, Pohang City will do its best to continuously prepare various policies not only to support the stable settlement of urban residents in fishing villages through return-to-fishing and return-to-village projects but also beyond."
