Application of Seocho-type Emergency Bell Standard Design

Old public restrooms, public parking lots, and 1,889 emergency bells including CCTV apply 'Seocho-type emergency bell standard design'... Continuous inspection and maintenance of 112 crime prevention facilities including emergency bells and old operations

Application of Seocho-type Emergency Bell Standard Design

Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will apply the ‘Seocho-type Emergency Bell Design Standard’ to emergency bells installed in public restrooms, public parking lots, CCTV, and other facilities managed by the district starting this year.

Until now, the designs of emergency bells installed in various public places have differed, making it difficult to quickly locate the emergency bells in urgent situations. In response, the district has established a unified ‘Seocho-type Emergency Bell Design Standard’ to make it easier and faster to find emergency bells during crimes and other emergencies, greatly enhancing their usability.

Currently, there are a total of 1,889 emergency bells installed in public facilities managed by the district, such as public restrooms, public parking lots, and CCTV, and they plan to sequentially replace them with the new design standard.

The characteristics of the new Seocho-gu emergency bell design include maintaining consistency with the CCTV standard design prepared by Seoul City to avoid confusion among residents. The top guide plate of the bell is made yellow to symbolize safety, and the bell part is made red to be easily recognizable even at night, thereby improving visibility in emergencies.

In addition to emergency bells, the district operates 112 crime prevention facilities including logo projectors, police spots, and patrol signboards. Regular inspections and maintenance are continuously conducted on these emergency bells and crime prevention facilities. Recently, through a comprehensive inspection, maintenance was completed on 144 emergency bells and 26 facilities including logo projectors and patrol signboards, ensuring thorough management of the facilities.

Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho-gu, stated, “We will do our best to create a safer Seocho by producing and applying standardized designs for crime prevention facilities.”
